After spending last off-season in prison, Lewis might be concerned that the Ravens might try to prosecute him for stealing his pay check last year. We warned you last year that he has never been a big TD producer (only averaging 6TDs a year) but even we were surprised at the total meltdown he experienced last season. One big difference this year is the presence of Steve McNair which means that defenses won't be able to solely focus on stopping Lewis. All in all he should be a decent # 2 fantasy RB, but don't count on him to be your stud.
OK, if LaDanaian Tomlinson isn't the first guy on your cheatsheet, it's probably time to consider a new hobby. (You may even want to consider some type of counseling.) That being said, the decisions that will make or break your season most likely will be what you do at the running back position once guys like Tomlinson and Larry Johnson are off the board. That is why we rank, analyze and project performance for 50RBs. Ask anyone who took our advice and drafted Marion Barber last year and you'll understand why we place as much importance in the 30th ranking as we do the 3rd. The analysis of Jamal Lewis below is what we told our readers about him in June of 2006. The numbers in parenthesis after our projections are his final numbers for the 2006 season. The XR is where we had him ranked before the season began, and the CR is the "consensus ranking" of 25 other fantasy experts.
